Problem Overview
The Judge.me widget is designed to update the HTML content of a product page when new reviews come in. The widget updates the review count and text based on the default locale.
Judge.me uses Shopify unstructured product metafields to save review count and text.
However, there is a problem when translations are involved, particularly in cases where localized content already exists for the review message.
What’s Happening
When the widget receives new reviews for a product, it updates the content for the default locale first.
- For example, a product that initially shows “No reviews” will update to “1 review” after receiving a review.
- The widget is intended to translate this content into other locales (e.g., French, Spanish) dynamically.
- However, if there is already a custom translation available in any of those locales, the widget will use that pre-existing translation instead of dynamically translating the updated content from default locale.
Solution
- At Translify, we don't translate judge.me metafields. These are all metafields where: "namespace" = "judgme"
- If you already translated judgme metafields and saved translation into Shopfiy locales, clear these metafields to allow Judge.me to dynamically translate the review-related content into the necessary locales.
